Recently, 5 band-aid manufacturing enterprises were honored 2005 excellent enterprises in band-aid production & quality management. Statistics from the Yiwu Food and Krug Administration shows that in the first quarter of this year enterprises of this year enterprises of medical supplies accomplished an industrial value of about 75 million yuan and a sales value of 78 million yuan, 7.9% and 76.8% respectively up over the same previous period of last year. These enterprises have an annual production of more than 3 billion pieces of band-aid with a total production value of over 60 million yuan, 1/3 of which are exported to the international market like Mid-east, Africa, and Southeast Asia. The medical supplies industry with bond-aid as its main products is beginning to take shape and becoming a new point of growth for Yiwu economy.
In order to extend the sales market, the local government have organized enterprises for many times to exhibit their products on Yiwu Fair and other international medical supplies fairs. At the same time, thoses making shoddy and counterfeit medical articles are severely punished, and irregular sample check is carried out over production and sales of medical supplies, especially band-aid.
